Sander Steins (b. Nijmegen, 1973) grew up in the village of Berg en Dal, located in the wooded area south of Nijgemen. As a child, he was constantly drawing and always held a fascination with forests and industrial landscapes of the Ruhr Area, not far from his hometown. Throughout his life, Stein’s creativity was spurred by the reaction of the transition between the industrial and the current technological era. His creativity is nourished by his fascination for the fragile balance between nature and the destructive side of human nature. Steins work can be described as a fusion between painting, photography, printmaking and computer generated art – sometimes focused on just one medium and sometimes a blend of varied techniques. His work is held in private collections all over the world, and has received numerous awards and press in Europe, America, and Asia.
