Stuart Dodman

Stuart Dodman’s was selected based on his painting technique and monochromatic colors used for each piece. At a distance, each painting looks like an interesting take of a specific monochromatic color. However, at close inspection, the individual paintings have much deeper and technical use of line, space and color contours. Stuart expertly uses one specific color as a base and builds upon each painting with structure line contours – creating an eye-catching depth and movement. For anyone looking to add a monochrome look, Stuart’s paintings exude this technique perfectly.

Stuart Dodman (b. 1973, Luton, United Kingdom) started his artistic career by making installation and sound work culminating inCD releases for a Seattle based label and a Spanish label. After making sound and object based installations, Stuart started to make painting his main activity of practice, with repeated themes and ideas of action, origin, place and time. His current practice focuses on painting, objects and some digital elements made from sound. Stuart believes drawing, line and the movement in application of material are all important, as well as place, time, origin, repetition and action as being constant inspirations. Stuart Dodman lives and works in Brighton, U.K. "My current practice focuses on painting, objects and some digital things made from sound. Drawing, line, the movement in application of material are important. Place, time, origin, repetition and action are constant things. Personal and diary mix with process. All work is signed, dated and titled on the back unless otherwise stated."
