Malgosia Bajkowska
CURATOR'S NOTE
Malgosia Bajkowska (b. Poland) is an abstract artist living and working in Montreal, Canada. Her artistic approach is based on minimal/reductive pictorial research. She works to create imperfect or irregular texture forms on monochrome backgrounds in order to obtain a strong and solid visual composition. In some of her new works, the material object is the representation, without any illusion of depth. She folds , sews and sculpts unbleached canvas and enhances it with color. The material is made of folds and deformations that catch the light and reveal a story, like crumpled sheets or the carcass of a wrecked car.
Bajkowska’s works are collected worldwide and can be found in several private collections.
